The Annual Horse of The Year Show is New Zealand’s Premier Equestrian Competition, featuring a range of horse and rider combinations from multiple disciplines. With over 1800 riders and 2500 horses competing for lucrative titles and prize money the show is a feature on most equestrian calendars.
The 2018 event is already shaping up to be one of the strongest shows yet, with a number of elite riders indicating their presence at hoy. Olympian and previous event title winner Clarke Johnstone Is once again looking forward to the show and its atmosphere, which he felt helped enormously in his preparation for the 2016 Olympics At Rio. Saturday 31st March will see us riding out from Black Barn Vineyards in Havelock North, heading out on River Road to hit the Hawke’s Bay Trails.
After enjoying 42km of tasty stops, you will aim to finish at Church Road Winery for the finale party and concert which starts at 2pm (but if you take longer that’s ok, it means you are enjoying all the distractions along the way!).
