Wineries

Welcome to the newest Great Wine Capital of the World - Hawke's Bay, New Zealand's Food and Wine Country!

For many people around the world, Hawke’s Bay is synonymous with wine. Celebrated internationally as the source of some of the finest new world wines, the region is paradise for oenophiles.

Hawke’s Bay is best-known for great red wines, with 85% of New Zealand's full bodied red wine (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) produced here and over 83% of the country’s Syrah vintage. Chardonnay is another heavily planted variety and many wineries have great success with rich and complex examples of the popular white wine. Other varieties grown in Hawke’s Bay include Viognier, Pinot Gris, Semillon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc.

There are a number of engaging wine tours available for visitors wanting to explore the various sub-regions in the province, and we’re happy to make bookings for you (and recommend some favourites).

To learn more about the region’s wine industry, cellar doors & events view the official Hawke's Bay Tourism wine guide here.
