Earthquake flattened Napier rotunda but not pohutukawa

Fascinating article by Michael Fowler, local historian, in the Hawke's Bay Today about the resilient 1894 pohutukawa outside our hotel that survived two fires, an earthquake and the possible axe in 1935! If you'd like to learn more about the history of Napier's Marine Parade Michael will be giving a talk at MTG Hawke's Bay's Century Theatre during Winter Deco Weekend on Saturday, July 14, at 3.30pm. Admission is free.

Beef + Lamb New Zealand Ambassador Series Meets F.A.W.C!

Ambassador Chef, Damon McGinniss of Emporium Bar & Eatery hosted his Ambassador Series recently as part of the Hawke's Bay Winter F.A.W.C! Damon has been an Ambassador Chef three times during his career and with his talent and skill he transformed some very humble cuts of beef and lamb into a stunning five course degustation. The event was titled Grass & Gravel and paid homage to New Zealand’s grass raised beef and lamb. Damon also matched each course with a delicious Syrah grown in the gravelly soil of Hawke's Bay.

This year’s Tremains Art Deco Festival is shaping up to be a star studded one as Kiwi Stars Kerre Woodham, Shane & Nerida Cortese and Masterchef Brett McGregor all head to Napier to enjoy the festivities. We're HANZ Awards Winners!
